New York City

The longer I live, work, and play in NYC, the more I’m convinced the city should be a state. Rhode Island has a population of 1,051,302 (2011 estimate) from quickfacts.census.gov. NYC however has a population of 8,214,426 according to http://www.nycgo.com.

This is how it would play out. The city would be a state, boroughs would be counties, and neighborhoods would be towns.

It really makes a lot of sense. No one who has walked in the Village or Chinatown can deny each area is very distinct.

Maybe NYC residents could then have more of a political vote.
